Marketing is Mensenwerk is founded by Chris Gerretsen.
Chris is an entrepreneur and commercial strategist with an international career at the intersection of technology, sales and media. He studied economics, including at the Plechanov Institute in Moscow, where he also gained his first work experience at Maxa Cash & Carry.
He then worked as an account manager at Maycom AS in the broadcasting and telecom sector. In 1995 he moved to Fenestrae, where, from Hong Kong, he was responsible for the Asia Pacific region. In his role as Sales Manager Asia Pac and later Director Asia, he built further experience in developing markets, leading international teams and driving growth in complex, fast-changing environments.
In 2000, Chris founded Aexus BV, a company specializing in international sales and business development for technology companies. Under his leadership, Aexus grew into an organization of around 150 employees with more than 20 different nationalities across four entities (in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and the United States). Aexus was named FD Gazelle three years in a row, an award given to fast-growing companies. In 2022, Riverdam, a private equity firm, acquired a majority stake in Aexus, and Chris stepped back as CEO.
After the sale of Aexus, he focused in particular on his passion for music and travel, with the founding of Music Traveler, a print magazine available at more than 1,000 retailers in the Benelux. In addition, Chris is active as an interim manager and advisor, supporting organizations in the areas of commercial strategy, growth and positioning. In that role, he is among other things involved with SecurityHive and BPM Company.
